The bay was like glass this morning with a light fog so we took our time getting underway, then motored the 6 miles to Nicolet Bay in Peninsula State Park.  We were the second boat to drop anchor in the cove, but before the day was over there were 20 boats.  This park was an absolute beehive of activity with campers, boaters, families on the beach, kayaks, canoes, day sailors, paddle boats, and paddle boards.

Literally hundreds of people enjoying summer vacations before the start of school.

The state park is quite large with over a hundred wooded and waterfront campsites.  It seemed that every camper had a bike today as we walked the trails.

The most unique feature of the park is the American Folk Theater, a professional theater group  performing on an outdoor stage in the woods.  They write and perform their own plays which are musical comedies suitable for family entertainment.   We attended the six o’clock performance of  Belgians in Heaven which was very entertaining!

Thunderstorms and high winds are expected tonight, so Ron set a second anchor just for safety.  Only three boats have remained for the night and tomorrow we will most likely stay here due to high winds—not a hardship!  We will have time to do a bit more exploring.
