Today, with bikes in hand, we took the ferry to Mackinac Island.  Not surprisingly, several thousand other people took the same trip.  We rode our bikes about six miles, walking them up the steep hills—I hope we can walk tomorrow!

There are about 500 year-round residents on the island, and then there is the tourist season.
The hotels, B & Bs, restaurants, buggy rides, popcorn, ice cream, and without a doubt more fudge shops in one mile than any place on the planet!   We have been to the island before, so we did not go to Fort Mackinac again, but if you are ever in the area, the fort is well worth a visit.
