We snapped this photo from the dinghy this morning before we got underway and locked down at Bevill Lock.

By mid morning we were able to shed our outer layer of clothing and by noon we were in shorts and t-shirts.

It was a quiet day on the Tombigbee.  We shared steering duties, sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the scenery, taking time to do a little reading when off duty.
We passed many enclaves of homes again today—this section of the river is very house and boat friendly.  Most boats are pontoon or fishing boats.

Shortly after lunch we reached Sumter Recreation Area, a few miles before the next lock.  We pulled in and dropped anchor in a quiet little cove next to the campgrounds.  Bob and Madeline spent some time in their kayaks while we went ashore with Bill and Joy from Proud Lady.  Following the trail we walked out to the entrance of the campground.  Along the way we met the park host at his RV site and another family who had their camper, tent, motorcycle, 4-wheeler and a boat with them.
We also chatted with a couple of men at the launch ramp in their bass boat—they were real   characters, but we didn’t see any fish.
It was a nice calm evening in our little cove—no complaints.
