What a great photo Bob snapped for us late yesterday afternoon!

Oops!  The anchor trip line was caught on the center board this morning, so poor Ron went overboard to clear the line.  Oh yes, the water was cold but a hot shower took care of him.

Locking through the Howell Heflin Lock was uneventful until the very end.  As the gate opened, Proud Lady exited then just as the Betty L cast off the bollard, the gate began to close again.  I put our boat into reverse to give Bob room to maneuver as we notified the lock  tender, “two boats still in the lock!”  He opened the gates again to allow us to depart—now, that’s a first on our trip.

As we rounded a bend in the river Jones’ Bluff came into view and the shutter was clicking!

The Tenn-Tom was exceedingly serpentine today yielding new sights as we rounded each bend. Carefully watching the treetops we were lucky to capture photos of hawks and bald eagles.

After nine hours on the water we pulled into the Demopolis Yacht Basin for the night.  Finally having good connectivity we were able to post the last two day’s blog.  By six o’clock we called the New Orleans’ Bar and Grill which provides pick up and return transportation to their restaurant.  Nothing to rave about on their food.

Returning to the marina we did a couple loads of laundry because there was a huge flat screen TV to watch the Alabama vs LSU game.
