UNDERWAY AGAIN . . .

Trip Day:           29        Latitude:            33°11.64' N                       Locks Today:    0
Miles Today:    52        Longitude:      079°16.61' W                      Locks Total:     6
Total Miles:    798        Location:          Just south of Georgetown , SC

Leaving the Charleston harbor, passing Fort Sumter,  the currents were strong, but the winds were manageable.  As we rounded the bend, we saw two sailboats circling as they waited for the 9:00 opening of the Ben Sawyer Swing Bridge.  We joined in and circled with them for 10 minutes.

This was one of the busiest days we have experienced on the ICW—we traveled with three boats most of the day and were passed by multiple trawlers.  It was an easy going day which we enjoyed after three days ashore.  Ron had time to research anchorages in the Waterway Guide for this area and select two possible anchorages for the day—we always choose based on weather conditions and how we feel when we reach the first possible spot.

ICW TIME SHARE
An interesting aspect of the Waterway Guides is that all of them are written as though one is traveling North to South.  So we have to start at the back of the book and turn pages toward the front of the book.  Ron has less trouble with this than Jean, must be a left-handed thing!

Good news, bad news.  .  .
The good news is that the no seeums have left us, the bad news is that their big, ugly cousins, horseflies, have sublet their space.   When these guys bite, it hurts!

At the first sight of these big flies, Ron began inserting the screen panel on all the opening hatches and install the screen enclosure on the cockpit.  Hopefully these measures will keep us bug free for the night.

Have a good evening everyone.  Ron donned his wetsuit as soon as we dropped anchor to clean the hulls - someone please explain to me how green slime can grow on a moving boat - must be the same scientific phenomenon as dust collecting on spinning ceiling fan blades.
