Up early this morning to witness this beautiful sunrise. The Marines never showed last night, but this was an interesting sign as we left the area.

This morning I was at the helm while Ron was eating his breakfast when I called the bridge on the VHF to  request passage for his 7:30 opening.  A crisp voice  replied “I don’t think you can make it in only 2 minutes” - our watch showed we had 4 minutes.  I replied that I would push it up, to which he responded “Be advised, if you are 30 seconds late, I will not open.”  I politely   answered, “Understood, standing by on channel 13”, not exactly what I was thinking!  BTW, this bridge is owned  and operated by the Marine Corp.  30 seconds prior to scheduled opening, I called again—he responded to continue my approach and he would allow passage, then gave me explicit instructions as to how he wanted me not to wait for a complete opening of the swing bridge, that I should enter as soon as the bridge was open enough for clear passage.  As I radioed “Latitude Adjustment all clear, thanks for the opening and have a good day!” he returned my wish for a good day.  I guess I either interrupted his breakfast or he did not like to see a woman behind the wheel.  Whatever!
We had a Skype call from family last night and enjoyed seeing their faces!  We were quite    relieved to see that Addi will have new front teeth after all.  Maren has a gymnastic meet next weekend—good luck, we know you will be great!  Cash had fun at the Easter Egg Hunt and liked all the chocolate!

Two different views of the ICW—houses on the west side of the channel and unspoiled low lands and dunes on the Atlantic side.

We have arrived at Portside Marina in Morehead City, NC which we will be our home for a couple days while we visit Beaufort and Morehead City.
