There is much more to Nashville than our time allowed us to do and see.  Perhaps we will return with a couple of grandkids in tow to spend more time in this great city.

The Cumberland River was glass calm and picturesque this morning and the current was with us which was delightful.  The leaves have not reached peak color yet, but for us the color is exceptional.  Some sections where the limestone cliffs rose high above the river were spectacular.

We saw a few tugs and barges today, but very few personal boats.  As we rounded one bend, we   disturbed a flock of ducks huddled together on the river and Ron was quick enough to snap a good photo.  We can attest to the health of the blue heron population in this area—we must have seen at least 30 today.  The bald    eagles are here, but more   illusive.  For the first time in months we spotted an Osprey high in the trees and he was a beauty.

By one o’clock we had to make a choice; stop at the junction with Harpeth River, or go another mile, lock through the Cheatham Lock then run another hour till the next available anchorage.  We chose to stop, relax, read and save the lock for tomorrow.
